Dear All,
Romsey members would like us to thank all of you who responded to their
urgent plea for help. Jean Glasberg has been helping them to object. She
has written to give us an up-date.As a result of objections, the period of
consulation has now been extended. Do encourage people to write in. Those
letters can make a difference.
Have just been going through the Romsey Terrace file and thought I ought to
update both of you as your email to FeCRA members has had a very good
response - it clearly taps into something which is relevant to people
across the city.
There are now over 40 objections on the planning site - rather confusingly
some are under ‘comments’ and some under ‘documents’ and Roy has also had
messages of support rather than letters - it is very heartening, and
definitely something it would be good to develop as a way in which RAs can
help each other.
There have been several very good letters in the Cambridge News and Jon
Vale wants to take a photo and do an article.
Jean adds:
It is obvious that having buildings so close together on such a constrained
site gives rise to problems with light and overshadowing, especially given
the direction of the sun - it’s a point made by many objectors which has
been picked up by the Urban Design Team who have asked for more information
on this from the developers, so the consultation period has now been
extended until 23rd February. Perhaps you could update FeCRA members,
thanking them for responding so quickly and letting them know that it’s not
too late for RAs to let their members know and to write in?
If you want to object and/or see what others have written - as Jean says,
the letters are heartening, see:
