But, to succeed, the City Deal needs:</p>

<p style="margin:0 0 12px 0;padding:0;color:#4e4d4d;font-family:Verdana,Geneva,sans-serif;font-size:16px;line-height:150%;text-align:left">The <a href="http://smartertransport.us11.list-manage1.com/track/click?u=9c353baead8e1c20519bc1ce3&id=f05d0840ca&e=4b729146a1" style="word-wrap:break-word;color:#0877ba;font-weight:normal;text-decoration:none" target="_blank">Highways and Community Infrastructure Committee</a> is meeting tomorrow (Tuesday 1 March, 10am at Shire Hall) to discuss delegating the following powers to the City Deal (<a href="http://smartertransport.us11.list-manage.com/track/click?u=9c353baead8e1c20519bc1ce3&id=a0752502d2&e=4b729146a1" style="word-wrap:break-word;color:#0877ba;font-weight:normal;text-decoration:none" target="_blank">Agenda Item 7</a>):</p>

It was neck and neck between the <a href="http://smartertransport.us11.list-manage.com/track/click?u=9c353baead8e1c20519bc1ce3&id=1b65ad6d0e&e=4b729146a1" style="word-wrap:break-word;color:#0877ba;font-weight:normal;text-decoration:none" target="_blank">Smarter Cambridge Transport proposal</a> and Cambridge Cycling Campaign proposals (<a href="http://smartertransport.us11.list-manage1.com/track/click?u=9c353baead8e1c20519bc1ce3&id=0ac001c5e7&e=4b729146a1" style="word-wrap:break-word;color:#0877ba;font-weight:normal;text-decoration:none" target="_blank">Milton Rd</a> & <a href="http://smartertransport.us11.list-manage.com/track/click?u=9c353baead8e1c20519bc1ce3&id=234d0086e7&e=4b729146a1" style="word-wrap:break-word;color:#0877ba;font-weight:normal;text-decoration:none" target="_blank">Histon Rd</a>). Together they claimed 80% of the vote. Both groups’ proposals share much in common, the most significant difference being that the Cycling Campaign proposes a tidal bus lane on Milton Road, whereas we propose <a href="http://smartertransport.us11.list-manage.com/track/click?u=9c353baead8e1c20519bc1ce3&id=39197b532b&e=4b729146a1" style="word-wrap:break-word;color:#0877ba;font-weight:normal;text-decoration:none" target="_blank">Inbound Flow Control</a>, which has a lower environmental, social and aesthetic impact.</p>

<p style="margin:0 0 12px 0;padding:0;color:#4e4d4d;font-family:Verdana,Geneva,sans-serif;font-size:16px;line-height:150%;text-align:left">There is almost complete consensus that the <a href="http://smartertransport.us11.list-manage.com/track/click?u=9c353baead8e1c20519bc1ce3&id=f77a1f8053&e=4b729146a1" style="word-wrap:break-word;color:#0877ba;font-weight:normal;text-decoration:none" target="_blank">Girton Interchange</a> is the most critical flaw in the local strategic road network, yet there will be no new connectivity delivered as part of the £1.5 billion <a href="http://smartertransport.us11.list-manage.com/track/click?u=9c353baead8e1c20519bc1ce3&id=3da260167e&e=4b729146a1" style="word-wrap:break-word;color:#0877ba;font-weight:normal;text-decoration:none" target="_blank">A14 Improvement Scheme</a>. Please <a href="http://smartertransport.us11.list-manage.com/track/click?u=9c353baead8e1c20519bc1ce3&id=05d370082a&e=4b729146a1" style="word-wrap:break-word;color:#0877ba;font-weight:normal;text-decoration:none" target="_blank">lobby your MP</a> (and copy your local councillors) to ask the Secretary of State to unhitch the Girton Interchange from the A14 Scheme so that the Huntingdon bypass can go ahead with minimal delay, while new designs are considered for the <a href="http://smartertransport.us11.list-manage.com/track/click?u=9c353baead8e1c20519bc1ce3&id=e38f92a936&e=4b729146a1" style="word-wrap:break-word;color:#0877ba;font-weight:normal;text-decoration:none" target="_blank">Girton Interchange</a> that better meet <a href="http://smartertransport.us11.list-manage.com/track/click?u=9c353baead8e1c20519bc1ce3&id=72267dc6a6&e=4b729146a1" style="word-wrap:break-word;color:#0877ba;font-weight:normal;text-decoration:none" target="_blank">local needs</a>.</p>
